Case Study: American Heart Association

To be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives.

the organization

The six cardiologists who founded the American Heart Association in 1924 would be amazed. From humble beginnings, the AHA has grown into the nation’s oldest and largest voluntary organization dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke. A shared focus on cardiovascular health unites our more than 33 million volunteers and supporters as well as our more than 3,400 employees.

THE CHALLENGE

The primary challenge that AHA faced was helping the likes of planners, developers plus members of the government and community find academic information, evidence and resources quickly and easily, in order to support their proposals and plans for a healthier environment. This support was vital to advocate for this type of thinking, to be healthy and active with smarter environmental design. Finding ways to communicate such a large amount of vital academic information also posed a strong challenge in the project.
